Mumbai : The construction and engineering giant, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) in a recent cache has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) for setting up a 375mw gas based energy unit at Dhuvaran on the outskirts of Baroda at an investment of Rs. 1,100cr. Company sources said claiming that the contract work includes designing, supplying, installation and commissioning of the power unit on a turnkey model where in the company will incorporate the latest and advanced class gas turbines and high efficiency steam turbines from Siemens AG, Germany. While the job of plant integration and detailed engineering utilizing propriety technology will be carried out by the L&T Sargent & Lundy, an arm of the company.
The related work like making critical equipment such as heat recovery steam generator, de-aerator, condenser, cooling tower, switchgear, valves and also the management, construction installation and commissioning will be carried out by the L&T. The entire project will be executed by L&T Power and commissioned in the 12th plan period during a time span of 30 months.
