The construction industry is witnessing rapid expansion driven by infrastructure developments, but managing operational expenses efficiently remains a major concern. Diesel usage typically accounts for 20-25% of overall costs at construction sites, necessitating innovative solutions. Repos Energy’s smart diesel storage tank, DATUM, emerges as a game-changer for the industry. This cutting-edge technology streamlines fueling operations, providing a seamless and eco-friendly approach. DATUM holds the potential to transform diesel management, promoting sustainability and cost-effectiveness in construction endeavours. DATUM has now been seamlessly integrated into the Gujarat bullet train project, a monumental initiative in India’s infrastructure landscape.
DATUM empowers Dinesh Chandra R. Agrawal Infracon (DRAIPL), the construction company responsible for the development of three out of the nine bullet train stations in Gujarat to take control of their diesel supply chain from procurement to payment. DRAIPL has successfully utilized advanced technologies to manage diesel consumption efficiently at their construction site in Sabarmati, Kalupur, and Vatva. At the construction sites spanning 48 kilometres, three DATUMs have been successfully installed and integrated for their innovative diesel management systems. The project involved monitoring and managing the fuel requirements of 94 assets spread across the three stations, each consuming an average of 4.8 kg of diesel.
Dinesh Chandra, chairman of DRAIPL said, “ With DATUM’s support, DRAIPL effectively dispensed 457KL of high-speed diesel (HSD) for the project, representing an investment value of Rs 4.2 crore. Along with this, DATUM’s advanced technologies enabled DRAIPL to achieve a remarkable 30-35% reduction in refuelling time.” By automating and streamlining the refuelling process, DATUM significantly increased the speed and efficiency of fueling operations, minimizing vehicle downtime and enhancing overall project productivity.
DATUM also provided a constant and reliable supply of diesel that was instrumental in the project’s success.
Chetan Walunj and Aditi Bhosale Walunj, founders, Repos Energy, said, “With the prevalent fuel distribution in India, fuel accessibility and operational losses were a great challenge for businesses that consume fuel in bulk. That was the reason why we designed and built products like DATUM. With the help of technological integration, we had envisioned that such a solution will solve these gaps, empower businesses, create a positive impact and expedite the growth of the nation. It is so heartening for us to see that it is doing exactly that on the ground”
The construction site confronts several challenges in diesel operations, such as ensuring an uninterrupted supply of diesel, minimizing vehicle outages caused by diesel shortages, and combating wastages due to spillages, theft, and barrel storage. However, DATUM serves as a comprehensive solution, empowering construction companies to establish a robust diesel infrastructure capable of handling scale. By providing round-the-clock fuel availability, precise quantity, quality control, and real-time monitoring, DATUM streamlines diesel management, alleviates operational hurdles and fosters sustainable growth within the construction industry.
