An official from Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Co Ltd (RPGCL) has announced that Bangladesh will receive two shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in September and October.
The first delivery, scheduled for 28-29 September, will be delivered by Total Energies at a rate of $13.77 per million UK thermal units (mmBtu). The official, who preferred to remain anonymous due to a lack of permission to speak to the media, made this information public.
The second shipment, scheduled for October 12-13, will be transported by Vitol at a cost of $14.90/mmBtu. Despite a Reuters request for comment, Total Energies and Vitol have not yet responded.
Bangladesh has imported multiple spot LNG cargoes this year to meet the country's increasing energy demand.
In addition, Bangladesh signed two long-term agreements with OQ Trading (formerly Oman Trading International) and QatarEnergy in 2021, with both contracts starting LNG deliveries in 2026.
