Sterlite Power announced the commissioning of its sixth transmission project in Brazil, built with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore. The project, Marituba, involved the development of a 344km 500kV transmission corridor connecting Brazil's largest hydroelectric power plant in Tucurui with the Belem metropolitan region to provide up to 1000MW of green energy.
Since its raid on Brazil in 2017, Sterlite Power has built a significant footprint in the country by acquiring 13 projects through a global auction process at greenfield.
Currently, the company has a strong portfolio of 8 energy transmission projects, six of which it has developed, spread over about 2000 kilometers of transmission lines and 22 substations.
Located in the Amazon region, it is the largest energy transmission project carried out by Sterlite Power Brazil.
