Nand Lal Sharma, the chairman and managing director of hydropower giant SJVN, recently assumed the additional responsibility of chairman for BBMB (Bhakra Beas Management Board) from 1 July 2023. Sharma, who holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the International Centre for Promotion of Public Enterprises at the University of Lubliana in Slovenia, has been leading SJVN as CMD since December 2017. In addition to his role at SJVN, Sharma is also chairman of three subsidiaries, namely SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company, SJVN Thermal and SJVN Green Energy.
With more than 33 years of experience in administration and the energy sector, Sharma has played an important role in the significant growth of SJVN's project portfolio. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its project capacity from 5,200 MW in 2017 to an impressive 54,327 MW today. SJVN has further diversified its activities in energy trading and has been appointed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) as the fourth implementing body for floating tenders related to renewable energy projects.
