To meet the expected peak demand, Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) has signed a 200 MW medium-term hydropower purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVNL).
The agreement states that NVVNL will supply hydropower to the company for the next five years, from May to September, from 2023. The partnership will help Tata Power Company's distribution arm expand its green portfolio, with a visible increase in the share of green energy in its operations.
In the coming summer months, Tata Power-DDL's Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Rohini, northwest Delhi, will help by ensuring continuous and reliable power for consumers during any outages.
Tata Power DDL is a joint venture (JV) between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi. It is one of the suppliers of electricity in the national capital and serves its seven million inhabitants.
