A power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 510 MW hybrid project was signed by Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) and Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, on Friday.
According to the official press release of the project, Tata Power-DDL, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Delhi government will avoid an average of 1,540 MU of CO2 emissions annually. It was also mentioned that the PPA can split 170 MW of solar energy and 340 MW of wind energy. It is one of the largest hybrid projects in the country, is in Karnataka, and will be commissioned 24 months after the PA's implementation date.
Ashish Khanna, CEO of Tata Power Renewable Energy, stated: "Tata Power Renewable has signed one of the largest PPAs in the country for a 510 MW hybrid project, through competitive bidding, demonstrating our future readiness and competence in project execution skills.
According to the press announcement, TPREL won this project through a competitive bid. trial, and Tata Power-DDL subsequently released the LEA. This victory extends the previous LOA of 255 MW that was acquired in December 2022.
With this victory, TPREL's total renewable energy capacity would be 6,303 MW, with 3,909 MW installed and 2,394 MW in different phases of deployment, it noted.
