The Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, last week inaugurated seven National Highway projects in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, worth Rs 24.44 billion, with a total length of 204 km.
Gadkari addressed the gathering and said that with the construction of the Churhat tunnel and bypass, the distance between Rewa and Sidhi had decreased by 7 km. Now the journey would take 45 minutes instead of two and a half hours. Also, it would take only four minutes to cross Mohania Ghat instead of 45 minutes, he said.
The minister said that the movement of vehicles in the Rewa-Sidhi section will be facilitated by the construction of the tunnel and tigers, other wild animals and the entire forest ecosystem will be protected. With the construction of Devtalab-Naigarhi road, the connectivity of Rewa district with Prayagraj and Varanasi will be easy.
Gadkari said that with the construction of the Satna-Bela dual carriageway, connectivity will become easier for the region's coal, cement and diamond industries. He said that with the construction of this route, the journey from Satna to Rewa can be made in 40 minutes.
Access to famous tourist places like Jhansi, Orchha, Khajuraho, Panna, Satna will be easy. Farmers and small business owners will have easy access to the market, saving time and fuel, he added.
