The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has set a target of constructing 12,200 km of national roads in the period 2022-2023, of which 4,766 km was built by November 2022.
Under Bharatmala Pariyojana, 35 Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) will be developed alongside expressways and highways, which would act as freight consolidation and distribution hubs.
Under Bharatmala Pariyojana, 191 congestion points were identified, and congestion reduction projects have already been completed at 56 such points, while projects are in progress at 83 points. Work on the remaining 52 congestion points will be awarded by fiscal year 2024-25.
No proposal has yet been approved to secure NHs and highways.
