India's total coal production increased by 11.66% to 75.87 million tons in November 2022, compared to 67.94 million tons in the same period last year.
According to Coal Ministry data, Coal India Ltd (CIL) registered a growth of 12.82% in November 2022, while Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and other captive mines registered a growth of 7.84% and 6.87% respectively %.
Of the top 37 mines, 24 were producing at over 100% capacity, and five mines produced between 80% and 100% in terms of output.
Shipments to energy companies increased 3.55% to 62.34 million tons in November, compared to 60.20 million tons in the same period last year.
Coal-based electricity generation registered a growth of 16.28% in November compared to last year, while total electricity generation in November was 14.63% higher than the power generated in November 2021.
