Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL), part of Coal India Ltd (CIL), has surpassed 100 million tonnes of coal production in the first seven months of the fiscal year.
According to CIL production performance data released this week, MCL produced 103.5 tons of coal from April to October, up from 85.4 tons in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, a growth of 21.1 percent.
The company passed the 100 MT milestone in a record 281 days. Normally, the figure is not reached before November or December.
The company, headquartered in Sambalpur, had produced 168.2 tons of coal in fiscal year 2021-22, up 13.6 percent from the previous year. It also emerged as the CIL's top coal-producing subsidiary.
With more than 15 percent growth in coal production, 21 percent in shipping and 18 percent in OBR, MCL is poised to set new records during its current fiscal year. The company has set a target of 176 MT of coal production for the current fiscal year.
