Komatsu's new PC230F-11 forestry processor is designed for heavy-duty wood pruning, sawing and stacking operations.
“Large trees can be moved more easily thanks to a powerful swing system and large swing circle,” the company says. It has a range of up to 29 feet. The swing torque is 58,334 foot-pounds.
The processor base is tall and wide for working in harsh environments and lots of debris. It's designed with components found on larger-class machines, the company said.
The machine runs on a 197 horsepower Komatsu Tier 4 Final engine that is more fuel efficient than previous Tier 4 Interim engines. It also has double fuel capacity. Komatsu moved the fuel tank to the counterweight, which also freed up more storage space for tools, oil and chains.
The processor weighs 67,516 pounds and applies 7.53 psi of ground pressure. The wide-finned radiator is protected by heavy-duty forestry screens, and airflow is enhanced with a variable-pitch fan, Komatsu says.
The processor features Auto Power Max, which automatically adjusts to sudden changes in payload weight by increasing the power in 7-second bursts to pull through trees while removing limbs.
