John Deere has released three new economical compact wheel loader models as part of its performance levels strategy. The new 184, 204 and 304 G-tier are simplified machines designed to perform everyday tasks in applications such as terrain development, landscaping and snow removal.
According to John Deere, the G-tier compact wheel loaders are "practically equipped" and have a lower cost. They are indicated by a "G" on the charger to the right of the model number. It's part of Deere's naming strategy, which began in 2021 by labeling machines based on their performance levels rather than the model's generation, such as an L.
The G-tiers come standard with a differential lock, which is automatically engaged if a wheel loses traction. An optional ride control reduces bucket spillage when traveling over rough terrain, reducing job site clearance and improving ride quality. It can also be set to turn on and off at certain speeds.
The all-new 184 G-tier is the most economical model in the lineup, making compact wheel loaders more accessible to those looking to expand their fleet, Deere says.
Cabs on the G-tier models are offered both in a canopy and enclosed. Built with operator visibility in mind, the redesigned enclosed cab features a frameless all-glass door, a floor-to-ceiling windshield and a refitted machine display, providing a clear line of sight to the environment. The all-glass right-hand window also swings out 180 degrees for a better view.
Additional features include an adjustable steering column, non-slip steps and an optional LED lighting package. The cab features features such as improved air conditioning and ergonomic, simple controls. All three G-tier models have ground service access and 30% larger fuel tanks. The cooling package minimizes contamination from dirt build-up, optimizes efficiency and shortens cleaning time.
