In order to revive the ailing transport sector, the government of Uttar Pradesh has decided to waive the penalty for late payment of company car taxes. During the pandemic, the industry was hit by the restrictions on the movement of resumes. The move will help resume owners who were registered before April 1, 2020.
L Venkateshwar Lu, chief secretary of the Transport Department, issued a notice stating that the owners of resumes whose cases were pending in court for non-payment of tax payments could apply for exemption and withdrawal of the petitions.
CV owners pay quarterly taxes to the transportation department ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 40,000.
