One of the leading construction and mining equipment players, Komatsu India (KIPL) has received orders for large-scale mining equipment from a major mining company in India along with its distribution partner Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
The order includes more than 80 units of Komatsu mining equipment. These include dump trucks, hydraulic excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, wheel loaders and wheel dozers. The size of the order includes delivery of equipment along with a full maintenance contract (FMC) for up to 10 years operation of the equipment. This equipment is planned for deployment on the yard of customers from the month of May 2022.
Yasunori Fujii, Managing Director, KIPL, said this: order strengthens the relationship that started with the customer in 2018 with the delivery of the Komatsu range of construction equipment.
Komatsu has also launched a mining equipment fleet biofuel compatible (biodiesel fuel blends up to B20 per ASTM D7467). The first set of HD785-7 biofuel compatible dump trucks were: recently handed over to the customer during a glittering ceremony at KIPL factory at Oragadam in Tamil Nadu. This is the beginning of a new era in the Indian mining equipment industry that could lead to significant reduction of carbon footprint.
Although Komatsu has finished mining that is compatible with biofuel equipment, it is also essential that a constant supply of the desired quality of the fuel is available at remote mining locations. The thrust of the government on accelerating the use of alternative fuels is expected to complement such new Komatsu initiatives.
