In light of the sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to assess the government's readiness to deal with the situation.
Municipal commissioners from the cities of Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Gandhinagar, along with collectors and district development officials from Anand, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad and Kutch attended the meeting via video conference, a government press release said.
Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, K Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar and ACP Health Mukesh Kumar attended the meeting in person, it said.
According to the release, municipal commissioners and district collectors shared the latest details and data on the vaccination campaign, case detection and tracking, availability of beds and medicines, and the status of isolated patients in their respective districts.
For better response and coordination, the state government has already asked the responsible secretaries to reach their assigned districts, Chief Secretary Patel informed during the meeting.
The prime minister urged city and district administrators to continuously monitor infected patients, both in home isolation and those admitted to hospitals, the release said.
To boost people's immunity, the state government plans to offer an Ayurvedic powder mix (kadha) in cities and districts from Jan. 10, it said.
Administrators are instructed to ensure that this Ayurvedic blend, which should be taken with hot water, reaches the public, the release said.
